What is lorem ipsum?

Printers were faking body text long before software existed, and the filler they settled on is lorem ipsum: scrambled Latin, loosely derived from a passage by Cicero, that publishing and design have leaned on for generations. Its meaninglessness is the feature: you judge a layout's typography, spacing, and rhythm without the words stealing attention. Ask this generator for as many paragraphs as you need and paste them wherever the design has holes.

It works because its word lengths and letter patterns sit close to ordinary Latin-alphabet prose, so a lorem-filled layout previews honestly how the real thing will look. Know the limits, though. Placeholder text can't predict the length of your real copy, and it looks nothing like numbers-heavy content or CJK text. It must never survive to launch, either: shipped placeholder is a classic embarrassment, and search engines will happily index it.

How the Lorem Ipsum Generator works

The only setting is a paragraph count. Ask for one to fill a card or a bio slot, or a dozen to rough out a full article layout: the text lands in one block for a single copy-paste.

Reading the output

Set Paragraphs to 2 and the first of your two paragraphs opens with the familiar "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit". Paste both into the layout, then read past the words: what you're actually checking is line length, paragraph spacing, and whether the type size holds up at this column width.

Shipped placeholder is the failure mode. Lorem paragraphs have made it into live sites, printed brochures, and investor decks more often than anyone admits, and the fix costs almost nothing: before anything goes out, search the file for "lorem". Five seconds, every instance caught.

When to use the Lorem Ipsum Generator
